A very Naki x-mas

howdy sports fans...

Well, me and my little bro (dad now calls us 667 & 668) had a really cool trip to visit our NZ Grandies in Har-rah, that's how Dad says it, (we think it's supposed to be Hawera) as it was the NZ x-mas this year.

We started off our adventure with a trip to the Petone Club to have lunch with Leicester and Nicola and swap santa presents. Me and Dylan got Light' McQueen sleeping bags and we gave L & N a deluxe version of Scrabble as they are moving to Matamata.

On the way Dad got a bit grumpy as the traffic was really really slow but after a while (like 2 hours) we made it to Levin.... after that it was plain sailing.
When we got to Har-rah we raced off inside to play and see the grandies but before long we were very tired and had to go to bed.

But.....the next day, Dad put the bikes on the car and we all went to New Plymouth for a cruise along the water front track which is 12km return, It was really cool as me and Dad got sprayed by some waves but Mum and Dylan snuck through.

Then we went home but on the way Mum and Dad stopped to buy our very first tent, me and Dylan had great fun playing i the tent in our sleeping bags, check out the pic.

That night me and Dylan had to go to bed early as it was x-mas eve, we put out some carrot for the Reindeere, a Tui beer for Santa along with some Chocolate fish. When Dylan went to bed, he decided that he was going to be a big boy and sleep in mum and Dads bed and have a wee read.... check me out.... this was unstaged!

After our really big sleep (2am) when i snuck past mum and dads room and got one present open before i was snapped i got sent back to bed, then we got up again but could do our presents till after we had our Ham on toast.

Then came the big moment.... here's us in action opening the goodies the got left for us...

Later in the day we had our cousins come in for dinner and more pressies, we had such great fun, here's some photo's of us all together just after opening our pressies, during our dinner and Me and Bradley....it was a really cool trip and our Uncle Simon calls Dylan Yoda now, we thought that was really funny.....

music time

Hi

This week was the last week of term, so it was the last week for music class :(.

Helen let us play with the instruments this week and Jakob and I both had our favourites, mine is string instruments (I love the guitar at home, and now I have a ukelele too - thanks Denise) and Jakob's favourite was the trumpet - he can make really cool sounds. Mummy thinks his great breath control is why he can be so loud at home.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hope Father Christmas comes to your house.

Love Jakob and Dylan.

party party

Hi

We've been quite busy lately with christmas celebrations. Lots of parties and even a birthday party to attend. This week it was childcare and Daddy's work party.

Here is a photo of Dylan and I helping to make the chocolate crackles....lucky Mum made extra mix for us as we did a lot of tasting.

For Daddy's work party we got to travel on a big red bus. It was lots of fun (and very noisy Mummy said, must be why Daddy offered to drive the car by himself to meet us at the park?). We sat at the front up the top so got to see everything on the way. When we got to the park there was a wading pool and a train to ride. And then after all that Father Christmas arrived, we were very lucky this year and I got a meccano set. Daddy (and Mummy) have had fun helping me to put it together, so far we have made a helicopter, a motorbike and a boat.

Mountain bike madness

hi all,

This last weekend Dad decided we should step up the mountain biking and get really muddy, i think by the sound coming from his lungs he was regretting it after towing me all the way to our rest break. We were in the Karapoti gorge where the serious MTB'rs go for fun and silly Dad decided that we should all go. I reckon it was about 4 km of incline over really bumpy muddy track, but it was really cool as me and Dad got covered in lots of Mud on the way back and crossed a river or two and even went through some really big puddles, then at the end we saw a big black Pig that some hunters had killed in the bush and were bringing it out to there van on a 4wheels drive motor bike.

Check out the rest stop photo at the bridge....

After we all had an exhausting ride in some of Wellington's best weather we really needed a rest and a beer or two, you can see how chilled out i was sitting back in the sun....

then earlier in the week me and Mum did a sneaky trip to Kirkaldies (Wgtn's Myer store) to get a sneak preview of Santa... i said i was being really really good and Santa said me and Dylan were going to get lots of really cool presents...if you promise to be good you can have a look at Santa before x-mas too....

A "GRAND" weekend

This weekend me and Dylan had Grandma and Grand-dad come visit from Taranaki, mum and dad had a night out so me and Dylan were very happy to see them arrive on Friday.

On Saturday Jakob and G'dad and Dad went in to the city looking at Cars, Dad took me and G'dad to a really cool shop where they sold cars like Sally from light' McQueen movie.

Then when we got back home we went to the Santa Parade in Lower Hutt where me and Dylan got ice blocks to cool off while we waited for Santa to come along.

After the Parade Mum and Dad got ready to go out and me and Jakob had yummy fish and chips from our local store, Grandma said they were the greatest.
On Sunday we had lots more cool stuff to do with the Grandies, DJ got towed up to the park in reverse by G'Dad and he athough that was really funny and i rode my bike.

We had such a good weekend that after our grandies left me and Jakob decided to do a spot of fishing in the sandpit, after our fishing i was showing Dad my rugby techniques by pushing the coffee table across the lounge..

A huge weekend

This last weekend was packed full of adventure for me and Dylan, to get the tale started we must go back to Saturday morning. Dad was telling earlier in the week that there was a really cool model train expo on at Queens Wharf, Mum and Dylan dropped us off at the bottom of the gorge and we rode into the expo....... what a cool time had... and after the expo i asked dad if he wanted some pub chips so of course dad said yes and we went to Chicago bar and had pub chips in the sun with some cleansing drinks...

After we were cleansed we decided to cruise the waterfront looking at the wild life, Dad said it's so great that the sun's out and i said yep.. Here's the view we had..

After Dad's guided nature tour we rode back to meet Mum and Dylan at the bottom of the gorge again and we went home.....

I (Dylan) also had a cool day too, but because i'm too small i had to play with my toys inside, i foud Jakob's Dinosaur jig saw and started to put it together, i really had to think about this as it was a bit tricky... you can see by my photo that i was really thinking about it.
Later that day Leicester and Nicola came over for a BBQ dinner, we called it the lion came to dinner BBQ, we even had dinner outside it was so warm, Mum said that Dad was naughty the next day because him and Leicester stayed up too late. I said that it would be really cool to go for another bike ride with mum and Dylan as well so we all went to Tunnel gully just north of Upper Hutt. That was a big ride as we had to ride up a really steep hill and then we got to the old train track where we rode across the top till we stopped for lunch, after our lunch we went zooming really fast down the hills and over the bridges till we got to the stream where me and Dylan played in the stream.

We were really tired after so much fun that we slept in the car all the way home...

weekend

Hi

Jakob and I had a busy weekend, and it all started on Friday night. We went to Oscar's house for his 2nd birthday and Jakob got to play with his big sister Una who is his friend from Playcentre. We all had lots of fun running around the backyard (but I managed to bump in to a tree - see the forehead in the photo). Oscar had a great cake it was a train and carriages, I really enjoyed especially the jelly beans filling the carriages all the different colours of the rainbow.

On Saturday we were out for a bike ride with Daddy and then out to Johnsonville to do some christmas shopping, I flirted with all the ladies in the shops. When I smile I get lots of attention.

Daddy looked after us that night as Mummy had to go to work.

The next day we went to look at some tents so we can go camping this summer. Sounda like fun to me, lots of open space to run around. Jakob and I were running in and out of the tents. Lots to explore. Then we went to visit Leicester and Nicola before coming home to wash the car, well actually it was mainly Daddy as I did some lego building and Jakob was supervising Daddy from his chair (with the chippies, though he did share some with us).

music time

Hi

This week Mummy and I made a trumpet/saxophone. I had lots of fun making music, Daddy kept asking me to go and play it in the bedroom - must be jealous of my lung capacity?

I even used it to entertain Dylan when he woke up after his nap (with a bit of help, I told Mummy I was just checking him and 'he woked up by himself'). And I read a book to him, DJ really seems to like thomas like me.

I've been looking out for Dylan lately, like at playcentre where I helped him on the slide, when the photo was taken I was saying "its all right Dylan, I will catch you....".

Signing off from Jakob 'Never smile at a crocodile......hmm hmm hmm (Mummy doesn't know the rest of the words yet)

sunshine!

Hi
This week we have seen some sunshine, yay! Dylan and I have been out enjoying the sunshine, we even had a BBQ on the weekend. Deon, Nicky and Ethan came over for dinner and we had a great time in the backyard. Dylan especially enjoyed the kebabs - as you can see from his face.

On Monday we took a trip to TePapa for Playcentre. (I kept getting TePapa confused with Papa and kept saying to Mummy we're going to see Papa today!?, Mummy said it was a bit of a long flight to do just for a day.....). TePapa is the national museum in Wellington. Everytime we go we revisit our favourites (the animal display for me) and check out some new features. This time we were mainly based in Naturespace. Dylan found the computers and was quite happy moving the mouse around, they have some cool games their for us to play on the computers and (unlike at home) no one says you can't touch the computers they are there for us kids to use.

Then the next day we were at swimming and Daddy came to see me at my lessons. He says I can swim like a shark now! And so I had to get a new swim cap, it even has 'dorsal fins on it'.

Lots of love until next week

Jakob and Dylan.

loooong weekend

Hi, this weekend Mummy was at work so we got to spend a cool weekend with Daddy. On Sunday we caught the bus into Lower Hutt and went for a long walk before getting lunch and popping in to see Mummy (just to make sure she really was working!).

Today we took the car because we drove in to Wellington, we went to see the Wrights Hill fortress. Which is only open a couple of times a year. Its where Daddy says the army protected Wellington during WWII. I had lots of fun running through the tunnels, lucky there were lights down there or it would have been very dark. I got lots of excercise but Daddy said it was a bit tiring climbing all the stairs to the gun turrett - but that may have been because he had to carry Dylan in the backpack all the way to the top. The picture of both of us is at the top in the gun turrett, Daddy says the gun was really big, you can see the markings around the edge for lining it up.
The view is Wellington from the top.

See you next week,

Love Jakob and Dylan.

PS Dylan has been talking this week, new words are: "night Jakob" and "bob bob" (bob the builder)

Here we are!

Here we are back again, we haven't forgotten you we've just been busy. This week Dylan and I had lots of fun with boxes. It started with a big box I brought home from Playcentre as a 'car' and then Dylan and I just kept going.....Dj wanted his own so Daddy got him a little one and we had a great time. Popping in and out like jack in the boxes, using them as cars and houses and boats. What a great days we had.

more inside stuff

Hi again

Well apart from the baking last week I also got to play with Mummy's guitar. I have been strumming on it and making up some songs. My last one was "its a rainy day, its a windy day". Mummy says she will have to get it on video next time.

On wednesday the sunshine came out for a little while and we went to Showtime at the Belmont Playcentre. We saw some plays and then got to play outside where they even had a bouncy castle. Una and I had a great time jumping around and waving to Mummy through the windows, Dylan seemed more content in inspecting the straw they had laid over the ground as a base for the bouncy castle. Dylan also conceded to have some face painting (not for me) a little spider.

A weekend packed full of adventures

This weekend me and Dylan had a great time, On Saturday Dad decided it was a great day for a ride on the bikes, so, off we all went to cycle round the Pauatahanui inlet on a new track they are making around Greys road, then we found another track that took us over lots of troll bridges where i tooted my horn to scare them away, further down the track we went past lots of little boat sheds & batch's right around to the Paremata bridge where we rode on the beach.

Then we went all the way back to the troll bridges and found a nice spot for some exploring and a spot of lunch.

As if all this action wasn't enough on our 15km ride, i managed to take a huge spill off my bike when Dad and i were racing over some rocky track, Dad didn't know that i took a fall and i got dragged along a bit. When Dad stopped we found out i had some cool battle wounds ... I told Dad he had to buy me a chocloate fish because i was being tough and having blood on my bike ride.

Then on Sunday, Leicester and Nicola came over and we went out for breakfast and then off to this cool park in Upper Hutt where they have heaps of high action rides, me and Dylan went on this really big slide and Dylan wasn't even scared, i think mummy was as she went down really slowly. The flying fox i went on was really fast, Dylan couldn't go on this though as dad said it was a bit dangerous to take him on so i had all the fun to myself.

After all this action me and Dylan were really puffed out and needed a rest, i think Mum and Dad were happy with that also.

More adventures from the weekends

Yet again me and Jakob and dad were out and about, we went off to see a drag car show, There were some very cool cars there but this was my favourite one so Dad had to take a photo of me and my big bro, Dad said the car was suiting to me and Jakob as it was called Monster and dad reckons that is what we are.

We didn't really do much else on this day as it was a bit cool outside, But when we got home I tried the art of practising my walking in Dads jandals, mum calls them something else but that sounds like undies, so i think we'll call them jandals....
